Freshman wide receiver Cameron Polk, the witness listed as “Polk” in the police report, was the tenant of the apartment, as confirmed by WAVE 3 News in Louisville. Polk is currently listed on the Cardinals’ roster, though he “has since been booted from the team” in an unrelated drug trafficking charge on Oct. 7 and is no longer a student at Louisville.
Polk has not been charged in Cogswell’s death.
Cogswell, who had been abusing drugs for two years, died of an overdose of heroin, amphetamines and Xanax. A second witness, also identified as a Louisville football player, told police Cogswell had taken a Xanax that night.
