Unlike in other fighting games where characters wail on each other endlessly with weapons that should kill in a single hit, Kickstarter project Die by the Blade takes things more literally. In this game, if the player or their opponent are hit with any attack to the torso or head from the other, they will die immediately, losing the round.

Now that the kickstarter has reached its main funding goal, developer Grindstone has revealed the first stretch goal that backers can work towards. Hitting $40,000 pledged (that’s double the original goal) will add ranged weapons to the game. Each character will have a ranged weapon which they can use once per round. Given the one hit kill aspects of this game, ranged weapons will be deadly, but they can be deflected with proper timing.

All in all, fans seem pretty excited about the eventual release of Die by the Blade. It is slated to release on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch in June of 2021, but potential backers still have 11 days to secure the Kickstarter pledge rewards and help the title reach its first stretch goal to add ranged weaponry.
