The next installment in Sony’s ultimate exclusive franchise, Uncharted, was confirmed this week for the debut of world premiere trailer of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception tonight at the Spike VGAs and its something definitely worth checking out.

The modern day Indiana Jones series will in fact take Drake on a journey to the desert as rumored back in November. The new setting offers continued variety from the lush jungles and snowy mountains of Uncharted 3’s predecessors.

Most of the trailer is focused on the large set piece of the crashed cargo plane, reminiscent of the hanging train car scene from Uncharted 2. But we do get to see a few quick gameplay shots at the end, including some Bourne-style jumping-off-ledge-and-into-building-through-window action.

The passage read by Drake in the trailer is of course from Lawrence’s Seven Pillars of Wisdom, as noted by our own Andrew Dyce when analyzing the plot details of Drake’s Deception. Keep it in mind when reading the official Uncharted 3 description:

There’s a good chance players will find this so-called “Atlantis” but the best part, is that you don’t have to be doing it alone. For the first time in the franchise, Uncharted 3 will allow co-op play for the campaign, cinematics and all!

Can Uncharted 3 be the Lawrence of Arabia of video games?
