Major, coach at UNC-Charlotte, is “in good spirits and is progressing well following his first procedure,” according to a university statement.
Major is on medical leave. It’s not immediately known when he will resume coaching.
Major said in a press release in May “my family has a history of heart and eye issues, and I plan to have procedures done over the next couple of months to address them.”
The 49ers were 17-14 last season, producing a second consecutive season with a winning record. He is 61-63 over four seasons.
